This project involved the establishment of an irrigation system that would initially benefit hundreds of families, most of them low-income and subsistence farming, living in the rural communities of El Plantel, Las Lomas, El Espinal and the urban centre of the municipality of Lamani, Comayagua Department.
VIELCA INGENIEROS carried out the tasks of Supervision of the Design and Construction of irrigation systems fed by a common source (the Rio Grande) in a total area of 206 hectares. The irrigation system aims to improve the productivity of these soils in a sustainable way, with permanent benefits for the participants and at the same time opening the possibility for other producers in the area to join the project in the future, increasing the benefits of the investment made.
The project included the implementation of a new intake site on the Rio Grande, a desanding plant, conduction and distribution lines and the development of the different plots with final systems for pressurized irrigation and drip irrigation, thus seeking the high efficiency of the system and the optimization of the use of the resource.
