At present, the municipality of Borriol has a WWTP with insufficient treatment capacity for the quantity of wastewater it produces. The urban growth foreseen in the current planning, as well as the growing industrial development and the increase in the seasonal population, aggravate the problem. This is why, although industrial areas are planning the development of independent treatment plants, action is becoming increasingly necessary to meet the demand of the population.

The works being projected are, in essence, the following:

-New general sewer (3,500 meters). The old sewage network is maintained to collect the discharges from the lower part of the population, which will take advantage of and lead these discharges to a propulsion well next to the old WWTP. From this drive well, wastewater will be pumped to the new main collector at the level of the first registration well of this collector, to finally connect to the new Borriol WWTP.

-Construction of the facilities of the new W.W.T.P. of Borriol (2,000 m3/day and 10,000 h-e). Composed of:

WATER LINE: Prefabricated pretreatment including: sieving, desanding-degreasing and sand sorter; grease concentrator; one (1) biological reactor carousel type of 4.422 m3; cylindrical gravity decanter (clarifier) of 18 m inner diameter and 3.50 m useful height. Tertiary treatment (Continuous washing sand filtration; In-line UV disinfection; By-pass UV disinfection; In-line chlorination).

SLUDGE LINE: sludge pumping; gravity thickener concreted in situ, 6m in diameter; sludge conditioning (polyelectrolyte); sludge dehydration with a centrifugal decanter of 5 m3/h; sludge transport to hopper.

OTHER: Electrical installations; Control and instrumentation; Auxiliary services; Deodorization system for pre-treatment, thickening, dehydration and hopper; Control building.
