Summary:
The project aims to develop electrocatalysis technology to transform nitrates contained in drinking water into harmless components and feedstock for fertilizer formulation, within a circular economy context.
To this end, it will develop a sequential working methodology, which will:
- Make a basic diagnosis of nitrate management in the Valencian Community.
2. Develop an electrocatalysis system, including the construction of a laboratory-scale prototype to test different substrate materials, surface modifications and doping substances.
3. Study the electrocatalysis process in the previous prototype, both with synthetic samples and from real samples.
4. Study the possibilities for the valorization of the by-products.
5. Analyze the possibilities of integrating the technology into drinking water plants.
