IMPROVEMENT AND EXPANSION OF DRINKING WATER SYSTEMS IN THE CITY OF MASATEPE

Working field

Hydraulics and water treatment

Client

ENACAL

Ending Year

2021

Budget

19,177,274.78 USD

The project to expand and improve the drinking water system of the city of Masatepe, is aimed at solving the current supply and installation problems affecting important sectors of the population and generating the installed capacity needed to meet the demand of the population expected at the end of the 2021-2041 design period.

AP component

The main scope of works carried out in this process are:

  • Drilling of eleven deep wells: for the abstraction of groundwater from the Sapasmapa basin, equipped with their respective equipment and pumping stations and chlorination disinfection. The planned facilities are located to the South – Southwest of the city of Masatepe.
  • Drive line: from the intake to the PTAP site with three (3) pumping stations in series.
  • Construction of a new steel tank: above ground for the Upper Zone (South), with 2,103.24 m³ (555,613.08 Gallons) of storage capacity.
  • Construction of 3 vitrified steel storage tanks of 7.023m3 capacity to store a total volume of 21.071m3.
  • Adduction Line: to feed by gravity from the new Storage Tank of the Upper Zone (South) to the existing Storage Tank of the Lower Zone (North).
  • Reinforcement and expansion of the distribution network: to improve geometry and hydraulic operation, as well as to extend coverage in expansion areas. 3,336 home connections.

AS component

The main scope of works carried out in this process are:

  • Collection Network, 35.32 Km of pipes with diameters Ø150 mm to Ø450 mm, for main and secondary collectors. With 3,014 home connections.
  • Pumping stations, known as EBAR No. 1 – Reparto Masatepe; EBAR No. 2 – Road to ICIDRI, and EBAR No. 3 – Barrio Jalata.
  • Impulse Lines: HFD pipe in diameters of 100 mm and 150 mm, with a length of 890.01 m.
  • Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP) + Related Works. Which is designed in Phase 1: (4) USB modules, (2) LS and (2 LM. Phase II: (2) UASB module, (1) LS and (1) LM.

Diagnostic Consulting, Studies and Designs:

The studies will be carried out in four (4) phases and their results will be reflected in seven (7) reports, as follows:

Phase I: Diagnosis of the current situation of the drinking water and sanitary sewerage system.

Output 1: Initial report. Work plan. Report of the study area and methodologies, cartography, topography.

Output 2: Population and housing report and Topographic report.

Output 3: Diagnostic report.

Phase II: Feasibility studies for drinking water and sewage systems.

Output 4: Conceptual report on alternatives.

Output 5: Feasibility report on drinking water and sanitation projects.

Phase III: Final design of drinking water and sanitary sewerage systems.

Output 6: Final design report for the drinking water and sewage projects.

Phase IV: Tender Documents
